Ronit Ricci's book explores Sri Lanka as both a real place of exile and a symbolic representation of exile across different cultures, faiths, and eras. The island has been associated with various narratives of banishment, including the stories of Adam, Sita, and Indonesian royalty exiled by colonial powers.
